Anti-rollback wheelchair safety device

This mechatronic project is a wheelchair safety device designed to be retrofitted onto standard wheelchairs.

It uses an IMU to detect when the wheelchair is on an incline beyond the user's comfort level and engages a ratchet to prevent uncontrolled rolling.

When in the neutral position, the ratchet is not engaged.

When on an unsafe incline, the pawl engages with either the forward or reverse ratchet to keep the user moving only in the desired direction.
